The idea behind the piece came from this fallacy of a continuous energy loop that was inspired by a longtime obsession of a genre of click bait videos on YouTube for ‘free energy machines’ and also the sub-genre of debunking videos that emerged as a result. I’m really interested in this idea of this egalitarian vale that’s placed over this concept that drives viewership but ultimately this Trojan horse of click bait harvesting is its own kind of contemporary capitalism.
The work comprised of a looping circuit of battery pack, fan and mini wind turbine. A circuit which would never be self sufficient and exist within in its own limited lifetime giving it some sense of autonomy.
